Fashion Post | Dressing On A Low Budget

Let's be honest for a moment, for those who have a painfully low budget for any kind of luxuries, dressing in what is 'fashionable' at the time is incredibly hard. There are so many shops out on the high street that make young, impressionable girls (and boys!) feel they have to have what's splashed across the glossy window fronts. Whether your parents can't/won't give you an allowance or your simply not able to get any work, this all contributes to not feeling 'in'.

Obviously, people shouldn't feel the need to follow the crowd and it's altogether much more admirable that some defect from the norm and create their own unique sense of style. But what if you want to have the 'basics', as it were? Some fashion pieces that will last a while and remain fashionable?

You see? This is very difficult to do. Sure, there are places which cheaper clothes such as Primark, F21 or even H&M, but guaranteeing the quality and longevity of these clothes is difficult to do.

So this brings us back to the question: How do you dress on a low budget?

Review | Ipanema Flip-Flops

*Sponsored Content
All opinions are 100% honest and my own

Ahh summer… or what is left of English summer.

Obviously, summer means (possible) sun, warm weather, fashion and some awesome flip-flops to rock on the beach. Well, look no further because Ipanema had me covered this summer with a pair of their awesome Orange Aztec flip-flops.

I'll be honest and say that until now I had never heard of Ipanema, but some of pieces in their recent collection are truly beautiful. I picked out these amazing ones because of their vibrant colours and interesting print. The Aztec print trend isn't as strong as it was, but it's still one of my favourites. Ipanema took a very bright twist on Aztec print with these, as they did with the other options available.

I have big feet [sigh], so I opted for the size 7, which actually doubled as a 7/8 (UK size), as Ipanema suggested getting a size bigger than usual. They are not as lightweight as your usual flip-flops, which I actually liked because I often find these types of shoes too flimsy. This gave them a little weight and durability. Saying this, the shoes aren't heavy, but have just that little extra weight that others don't have. They would just as easily be packed into your beach bag without you noticing the extra weight.

Size: Fits true to size.
Ipanema does suggest getting a size bigger than you would typically purchase, which I would also strongly recommend.

Comfort: Comfortable, but slightly tight around tops of my feet. This is perhaps because I have a high instep though, so these might require some stretching to fit more comfortably. I imagine these would fit fine around 'normal' feet, but the slight tightness at least provides a little aid in the way of slipping. All too often I find flip-flops slip off or just don't stay put, so that's a bonus. The actual shoe is flat so this isn't going to provide arch support, but they are great for just lounging around in. Soles also have decent traction, meaning you're not going to be sliding all over the place (hopefully).

Overall, I really like these sandals, I just wish that the strap wasn't as tight as it is. They are going to need a little wear before they fit comfortably on my feet (as is the way with most of my shoes). But I really like the pattern and I can definitely see myself using these in the future. Perhaps when the occasion arises (aka, when I start doing fashion posts), I will include these. They're definitely a piece that'll liven up you summer/holiday wardrobe.

Fashion Post | Orient Blue

Orient Blue

Just a quick fashion post from me today. I love the painterly quality of oriental designs and what better time to wear them than summer evenings? Out of everything here, I adore the Kimono the most. It's such a simple piece, yet could easily dress up or down an outfit in an instant - it's a keeper!

What's your favourite piece? Tell me in the comments below! xx

Fashion Post | Life's Peachy

Life's Peachy

As usual, on Friday's I bring you a quick fashion post. Last weeks was mint and this weeks is peach. Personally I prefer to wear peachy colours as they seem to suit most skin tones. I find mint and yellows often wash me out (they somewhat reflect onto my skin, making me a nice shade of ill).

Fashion Post | Minty Fresh

Minty Fresh

I really love mint this summer and so far have already purchased a cute dress from Lavish Alice in the shade. Thus, here's a couple of picks I also found cute (and practical) for this summer.

I don't know about other countries, but the UK is crazy hot right now because of a heatwave. I have this love/hate relationship with super hot days like this. On one hand England is warm! Yes, I'm stereotyping the UK to being cold, but it was only a week or so ago I needed a jacket because I caught myself shivering. On the other hand, they knock me out. I'm not accustomed to heat like this and I pretty much spend my nights awake and my days sleeping. I should really make use of it and get myself a wicked tan, but after a five minute walk today, my shoulders had already burnt… so maybe I'll just hibernate until it's a more reasonable heat. :P

Is it bad I'm looking forward to work tomorrow? Two words: Air Conditioning.

Have a super day and leave a comment below!

Summer Style | Three Ways To Wear Maybelline Colour Tattoo

Someone once told me that I couldn't wear blue eyeshadow because my eyes are blue, apparently, it's the 'rules'. But I say that pretty much any rule can be successfully broken if you put your mind to it. So what is one of my favourite styles to wear? Blue. Liner, eyeshadow - I'll make it work.

These looks can all be buildable and I have focused very much on using the cream shadow as an eyeliner this time. I do use it as an actual shadow, but I adore using this as an eyeliner. It's so long-lasting and getting it off requires some seriously strong makeup remover! Ps. My eyelashes look a little on the terrible side because they've all been falling out. D: My sister took the photos for me, however, I'm pretty sure my eyes look like they're focusing on different directions (she wouldn't tell me where to look - haha!)

Just as a disclaimer, I have not filtered these photos as I want to keep the colouring accurate. The lighting did, however, change some of the images to look lighter/darker, so please keep this in mind. :)

Coveting This Week: Quiz Clothing

As I often have on a friday (bar last week - I posted it on thursday), I'm bringing you another outfit post. I like this little trend I have running and what I like even more is the excuse to trawl through clothes sites all in the name of 'research'. This week I'm focusing on Quiz Clothing, as they have a massive selection of awesomely priced clothes.
Enjoy!

Coveting This Week: Sugarhill Boutique

I'd say that all in all, a good 90% of my time is spent searching through clothes websites. There's something about looking at all the pretty clothes I can't afford that's just so addictive. As far as addictions go, mine's (reasonably) okay, so I'll share with you my current addiction of Sugarhill Boutique.

If I wasn't trying to whittle this down to a few simple pieces, my 'must haves' list would probably be the entire website. They have everything from chic to cute and quirky. How can you not love it!? So after scrolling through the endless amounts of (awesome) clothes, I think I finally picked my 'must haves'.

Heating Up: The Summer Edit

I love summer. So when summer decides to grace the lands of the ever rainy England, it can actually get pretty damn hot - shocker! I know.

Love summer as I do, there comes a point where the heat can actually get a little too much for me (I'm not used to it, okay?)

So here's a little collection of light, bright and florally pieces to get your summer wardrobe going.

Care for a game of crochet?

Call me a granny or what-have-you, but I love crochet at the moment.

hmm… perhaps I'll have to channel my inner nan and pick it up as a hobby…
