Review: Glossybox - March 2014

With the warmer days approaching and the days gradually becoming longer and lighter, this month Glossybox has a definite node towards Springs approach. It's seemed unlikely that the cold would shake, but lately we've had weather in the UK that is almost, dare I say, Summer temperatures. I know. It sounds crazy to even me. But when I'm actually having to walk to work with no coat (nope not even a cardigan) it definitely makes me hopeful.

The March box, for me, seemed to be full of (with one exception) soft colours and pretty fragrances - very Spring. It was certainly something I expected and I'm really looking forward to trying out the products for myself *smiles*.

Gig Night: What I Wore

Hello everyone! It's been a while since I last updated my blog and I'm grabbing the chance now to catch up on things (like actually updating my blog *coughs*).

Lately I've been super busy with painting. It basically has taken over my life. I know - bit sad really.

Last night I went to an awesome gig and among many great artists, Charlotte Carpenter was there and, I can vouch, was simply amazing.  I didn't really know what kind of gig it would be and I was feeling in the mood for black, so I punked it up a little and went darker than my everyday look. It was actually a really chilled gig where everyone say on cushions and listened to very - as the artists described it - emotional music. It was so lovely and I would absolutely recommend listening to some of her music for yourselves.

Photography at midnight… probably not the best idea!

I actually attempted to take photos of my makeup right before I jumped into bed, so my orange-ish bedroom lighting and then the blue from my laptop screen really doesn't do my makeup justice. But I used my Revlon Colorstay Lipstick and my recently rediscovered 'Sensual Effects Eyeshadow Palette' by Lancôme.  The look was pretty trial and error, but it looked amazing on the night and received many compliments (as did my new shoes - which I love - I've linked them below). Ideally, I've love to recreate the look - maybe even make it into a video or tutorial - perhaps in proper daylight. But whether the English skies will allow for that, is yet to be seen.

Face: L'Oréal Lumi Magique Pure Light Primer, Maybelline Dream Matte Mousse (004 Light Porcelain), L'Oréal Perfect Match Concealer.

Eyes: Lancôme Sensual Effects Eyeshadow Palette, Emite Micronised Eyeshadow, Maybelline The Colossal Volum' Express Mascara, L'Oréal Super Liner, Maybelline Master Shape (Light) Brow Pencil.

Lips: Revlon Colorstay Ultimate Suede (035 Backstage).

To match the heavier makeup look I sported that night, I also paired it with a vest with a floral cross, black leather jacket and black skater skirt. While I did not take pictures of my shoes, I wore some chunky heeled boots from new look and I love them (but my mum doesn't and that means they are totally awesome, right?) I even curled my hair and used the Toni & Guy 'Stick It Up Gum' that I received in my last Glossybox. Such dedication.

Top: River Island
Skirt and Shoes: New Look
Jacket: Barneys

I hope you enjoyed seeing what I wore, it's the first time I've every really done a post about my clothes and makeup looks, so do tell me if you enjoy them and would like to see more! (Or how I created them). I promise to actually photograph in sociable daylight hours (haha!)
