Round 3 | Battle Of The Primers

Last week, I battled Maybelline against the renowned Benefit 'Porefessional'. So many people have claimed that Benefit's primer is a Godsend. It's ultimately, one of the most coveted primers on the market. Want to know my opinion of the product? You can read all about it here!

But what about if this primer is set against another this week?

This time, you'll see if Benefit can hold out against one of my very favourite High Street brands…

L'Oreal - Lumi Magique Primer (£ )

Well, of course it was going to be L'Oreal…

I've had this primer for the longest time. Probably (definitely) way longer than I care to admit. Yet, whenever I use it, it never fails to impress me. Most primers look to cover or hide pores. But what if that's actually not an issue to the consumer? Personally, I don't believe I have very big pores. I'm almost certain I would know if I did, as this frequently comes with other skin issues.

As such, I've debated whether to battle these out for a long time. They have very different purposes, so I believe you can take my opinions with a pinch of salt, as everyone likes different things!

Round 2 | Battle Of The Primers

Last week I compared Maybelline's 'Dream Smooth Primer' against their 'Baby Skin Primer'. You can read all about my pros and cons of both products here. This week I'm going to compare the winner, Dream Smooth, with a new contender.

And in the right corner weighing at… (I'm kidding). But in all seriousness, this week I'll be comparing it with:

Benefit - The Porefessional (£24.99)

Round 1 | Battle Of The Primers

Overtime, I've accumulated a few primers, though it's an item I've never really felt much need to use. That was until this summer and how face-meltingly hot it's been. I've posted about a couple of these primers before (I've even posted a review on one of them), but this is to decide which I feel comes out on top.

This weeks battle: Maybelline vs… Maybelline! (Well, this is awkward).

[Before I begin I would like to mention that my opinions are my own and this is just my experience with the product. What didn't work for me might work for you and vice versa.]

Review | Birchbox July 2014

It comes in a bag. So cute!!

As you might be aware by now, I am a regular subscriber to Glossybox and haven't really deviated away from them since first subscribing. There have been moments where I've questioned whether to maintain my subscription and I've always hesitated. This month, I got my Glossybox free thanks to the accumulated Glossydot reward scheme. I figured, as I hadn't paid for a Glossybox this month… well, why not a Birchbox?

So this is my first time getting a Birchbox and although I've been following them on social media a long time, I didn't really know what to expect. Would it be mostly skincare? Makeup? A mix of the both? Who knows!

I'm a massive fan of getting large amounts of makeup in my boxes so seeing so much skincare made me uncertain about the products, but I quickly changed my mind. Read on and you'll see why...

Review: Maybelline Baby Skin Primer

A couple of posts ago, in my Mini Haul, I mentioned a new product on the high street market. Maybelline's Baby Skin Primer is the new addition to what seems to me, a growing collection of 'Baby' products.

While it is a primer, I think this fact was probably the last thing I found out about it. The packaging has bold lettering splashed across it saying 'Pore Eraser'. I find the idea kind of funny because you can't erase pores, but I get what it's saying. It will reduce the appearance of them while wearing the product.

It also (very boldly, in my opinion), claims that you could wear this without foundation. Which I'm sure would be the case for anyone with perfect skin, but sadly, not for me if I'm having a 'bad skin day'.

Mini Haul~

I love sales. They are amazing. So when I noticed that at Boots there were loads of reductions on makeup products I jumped at the chance to grab some for myself. Unfortunately, these sales started before my shift on the Saturday so by the time I got to them, there wasn't an awful lot left. But some of the things there were in perfect condition, yet you might ask me, why were they in the sale? It's very unusual for products at £8 be reduced to £3 when they are fine.

From what I could tell, many makeup brands are changing the packaging on their products and, therefore, need to sell off the older styles to bring in the newly styled ones. There were so many brands in the pile ranging from, L'Oréal, Maybelline, 17 and Rimmel London, all of them perfectly good, but reduced massively.

Review: Glossybox - November 2013

So I promised to do a review of the glossy box I was to receive this month, and here it is:

The box comes very beautifully wrapped using pink ribbon, black tissue paper to encase the products and more shredded black tissue paper beneath the products. It creates a really nice effect and I kind of felt like I was receiving a present… from myself!
Inside, the products are carefully placed inside, some of which were further wrapped in pretty packaging (as you can see on the left, on of the products was stored in a pale pink ribbon drawn bag - a very nice touch, if I do say so myself).
